Home Theater Costs

The impression of buying a lifestyle often eludes the practical reasoning of some individuals, most especially if there is ready money available. I see this often in the home theater scenario, where people are readily lured at the prospect of having a deluxe home theater set. Luring people in this ideology, by the way, is VERY easy if you have the full compliment of the latest media trick and techno blitz plus pockets as deep as the Marianas. Yes, they make media viewing more than just some experience, and some even vehemently claim that they can save money from all those popcorn and tickets every time a blockbuster is released, but that in reality is not exactly true. Not too often do I see a home theater scenario where the system repaid itself for several years. Read on and let me show you.

Supposing we have a typical home theater installation cost scenario. For an HDTV, we get one worthing around $1000, a DVD player for around $500, a receiver for $500 and another $1000 for the surround speaker set containing two front speakers, center, two surround and a subwoofer. All in all we have a total value of $3000, more or less. A sound plan, isn’t it? Is the $3000 no cost for a purchase of this type?

The $3000, mind you, is already a lot of money considering most folks won’t be paying for cash, instead using credit card and the interest, which again would cost some more money. And if they were to pay cash, they had to take their savings out the bank or they could be working overtime for several months to pay for the home theater.

Now we go to the part where people justifies home theater cost with the savings made from movie tickets. Movie tickets costs around $10, more or less. Dividing it from 3000, we need so many movies before the home theater justifies its cost from movie tickets saved. Let me remind you parenthetically too, that we can’t spend the 375 movies in the space of 1 year and 10 days, even if we are that serious in watching all those movies. That is because watching movies everyday for one year is just too much movies. It would take more than one year and 10 days before our nifty home theater set can justify its home theater costs.

In the end, it all boils down to the fact that home theater costs are nothing less but luxury endeavors. We don’t get them and say that there is no cost for such purchase. Is home theater pointless? No. They are the best addition to the home scenario since the karaoke and the Playstation 3. From the level of activity they generate, they potentially can enhance family ties. I would love to have one, if only I can convince myself having one is better than spending about $10 elsewhere whenever there’s a new blockbuster coming up. Because even if I have one, I’m equally unsure that if it would also cease my need to go to the theaters.

How Much Do I Need To Spend For Home Theater Cost?

A frequently asked question. It all depends on how much are you willing to spend and can still live life reasonably. My $3000 is not a bad mid range idea. In this scenario, what you need is an understanding of the distribution of home theater costs. If you are buying a low cost home theater system, like if you buy a low end HDTV, then its best if it is paired with an equally low cost DVD player and a low cost surround sound system.

It is still your prerogative by the way, so its best you look for low cost home theater system reviews if you really want to save a bit.
